Description
A view of Bell Works, bell tower and factory buildings in Park Lane, Harefield, at the junction with Summerhouse Lane. There were mills recorded on this site in the Domesday Book, but more recently in 1910 the Bells Asbestos Company operated on the site, and then in 1935 the Harefield Rubber Company, which closed in 1978. On the left is the Harefield Roller Works building. Most of the site was demolished and then redeveloped in 2009 as a residential and business complex. A couple of buildings still survive, with one just visible behind the bell tower. This is an early nineteenth-century manor house, which is now listed. The Bell Works site now forms part of the Black Jacks and Coppermill Lock conservation area.
