Title
Hillside in Brookshill
Description
Front entrance and porch of Hillside, Brookshill, Harrow Weald. The house was built in 1868 by R.L. Roumieu in a Tudor Gothic style, with distinctive Dutch gables, for Thomas Franklin Blackwell of the Crosse and Blackwell Food Company. It remained in the family until 1955. Sold in 1958, it was later devastated by a fire and lay empty and neglected for years. In 2017 it was redeveloped for apartments, replicating features of the original house.
