Interior of Broadway Cottages in Stanmore
Description
Detail of wood panelling in the first-floor front room of 59 Broadway Cottages, The Broadway, Stanmore. Broadway Cottages is a two-storey stucco-faced row of timber-framed cottages built in 1565, the original function of which is disputed: it may have been built as a combined unit for several related families or perhaps as an inn or almshouse. In 1975 the property was purchased by a developer named Cottrell who, backed by a preservation order, restored the building as offices. The building is now known as Cottrell Cottages. As of 2020, it serves as the premises of the Boys & Girls Nursery Stanmore. Grade II listed; list entry number 1358610.
