Victoria Embankment by Hungerford Bridge
Description
View of Victoria Embankment, Westminster, showing the dismantling of the Bailey Bridge on the south side of Hungerford Bridge. This was constructed for pedestrian access to The Festival of Britain on the South Bank and dismantled in 1952, after it closed. The footbridge is still intact and has a small contractor's crane on it but the supporting metalwork for the stairs can be seen on the left. Below this is a cabman's shelter. An RTW bus approaches on the right.
