Interior of the Ministry of Defence on Victoria Embankment
Description
Room 24 at the Ministry of Defence, Victoria Embankment, Westminster, a former bedroom. The ceiling is from the early eighteenth century and has ornate moulding, in an entwined arbour pattern, by Sir William Chambers and William Perritt. The room is equipped with modern meeting room furniture. A white telephone sits on a side table and there are carafes and glass ashtrays on the tables. The Grade I listed MoD building (listing number 1278223) was designed in 1913 and built in 1959, but room 24 is one of its historic eighteenth-century rooms removed and reset from houses formerly on the site.
