Title
Victoria Embankment from Hungerford Bridge
Description
A postcard view of Victoria Embankment, looking north from Hungerford Bridge towards the old Waterloo Bridge. It was taken from above the Embankment roadway, which has no continuous central reservation. There is no motorised traffic at all but a wide range of horse drawn vehicles , hand carts and pedestrians. To the left a long line of cabs and carriages are lined up into the distance. Nearest to the camera is the Hotel Cecil, and the Savoy Hotel flies union flags. The top of Cleopatra's Needle, a Grade I listed Egyptian obelisk (listing number 1066169), can be seen above the trees.
