View of Victoria Embankment, Westminster, looking north from Bridge Street. On the left stand St Stephen's House and St Stephen's Parade, now demolished to make way for Portcullis House. Beyond is the distinctive shape of the former HQ of the Metropolitan Police, Scotland Yard. The red brick and Portland stone tourelles are clearly seen. It has now been converted to the Great Scotland Yard Hotel. There is a fine selection of contemporay street furniture, including a very good ornamental double street lamp with a dolphin base. To the right, on the approach to Westminster Bridge, is the bronze statue showing the Celtic Queen Boudicca and her daughters, riding a horse-drawn chariot. There is busy traffic, including a Bedford TK removal van, with 'Regular Services to the North East Coast' on the front. An Austin 1100 turns in front of the camera follwed by a Ford Zodiac Mk 3 with fog lights, registration FMC 195B. On the left a milk float is delivering and, further along, an RT bus pulls away from a bus stop. Various pedestrians are crossing the junction on what looks like a bright blustery winter's day.
