Derelict buildings in Houghton Street
Description
View of 1-2 Houghton Street, City of Westminster on the corner with Stanhope Street. Three-storey buildings with attics which appear to be vacant and awaiting demolition. Lot numbers are visible on the brickwork at first-floor level. The empty corner shop advertises ‘Numbering Perforating’ services. Although closed, the adjoining building retains adverts for Prime Oak Cured Ham, Fresh Corned Beef, Eggs and Bacon, Pure Butter, Cream Soda, Cold Dinners. The four-storey building on the right is The Kings Arms pub. These buildings were demolished to make way for the east side of Kingsway at its junction with the Aldwych.
