Title
Houses in Trevor Place
Description
Front elevation of terraced houses at 10-24 Trevor Place, Knightsbridge, looking north from Trevor Square. Trevor Place and adjoining streets were laid out on the site of Powis House, the late seventeenth-century mansion of the Trevor family. The architect William Fuller Pocock developed the estate, and laid out Hill Street c1827 (renamed Trevor Place in 1936). 10-24 Trevor Place was built 1840-43, and is a terrace of three-storey houses with basements, iron railings at ground level, minimal first-floor window balconies and stucco to ground floor, windows and parapet. A number of houses have had roof extensions added. Number 24 at the end of the terrace has a pillared portico entrance and is undergoing building work with full scaffolding and a skip on the road. Two Rovers, a P5 and a P6, are parked behind the skip and a Fiat 124 is parked opposite. The houses of 10-24 Trevor Place are named as unlisted buildings of merit by Westminster Council and lie within the Knightsbridge conservation area designated in 1968, and are still extant.
