View looking east, showing a row of four-storey terraced buildings with ground-floor shops at 8-12 New Bond Street, Mayfair. Number 8 is a fried fish bar with signs above the open entrance doors advertising, "Arthur's Quality Fish". In the display window are the words, "Fish Dinners & Suppers". There are empty trays visible in the display window flanked by some bottles. A small sign on the wall says, "Hoopers". A handwritten display board outside the shop reads, "Stop Here For A Good Fish Dinner Or Supper Fish Of Best Quality Fried In The Finest Oil". A price list below says, "6d 8d 10d 1/- Plates". A sign at first-floor level is advertising, "Fried Fish Bar Suppers". The building dates from the early-nineteenth century and is Grade II listed; listing number 1224730. The ground floor of number 9 is split into two shops with separate entrances. There is a three-window range with a blind window in the centre of the top floor. The shop to the left is trading as, "The Garden Cafe" with the words, "Light Refreshments Cigarettes" beneath the business name. There is a large sign in the shop window advertising, "Breakfasts, Dinners Teas" and a hanging sign for, "Cafe" can be seen outside. A display of packets of cigarettes can be seen together with signs for various brands including, "Black Cat", "Gold Flake" and "Players". There is an "R White's" advertising board outside listing various drinks including ginger beer, lemonade, cream soda and soda water. The other half of number 9 is trading as, "S. Goodwin Tobacconist". There is a variety of cigarette packets and cigars on display. There is a hanging sign for, "Wills Capstan Cigarettes" and signs for other brands including, "Craven Plain", "Richmond Gem", Nosegay" and "Ogden's St Bruno Flake". The late eighteenth-century building is Grade II listed; listing number 1224846. The corner building at the junction with Bedfordbury is 10 New Row. It is trading as , "Western Radio", where a display of radio sets can be seen in the ground-floor shop window. There is a hanging sign saying, "Battery Charging". The early nineteenth-century building is Grade II listed; listing number 1266576. There is a partial view of 12 New Row, which is at the opposite side of the junction with Bedfordbury. The four-storey building has a single-storey, projecting ground-floor shop with a lamp above the corner entrance. There is a partial view of an open-backed lorry with a sign advertising fruit on its side panel. There is an Austin 7 van parked in New Row. A starting handle can be seen above the vehicle registration plate.
