Description
View looking north-east, showing a pair of early nineteenth-century, four-storey, former town houses, with ground-floor shops at 78-79 New Bond Street, Mayfair. Number 78 is trading as, "T. Elliott & Sons", shoe retailer. There is a recessed entrance with curved display windows and a three-window range above. Shoes can be seen on display shelves. There is a hanging sign outside advertising, "The Scandinavian Room of Bond Street". Number 79 has four arch-shaped windows at first-floor level and a three-window range above. There is decorative scrollwork either end of the cornice. The shop has a sign saying, "Omega" together with the Greek Omega symbol above a display window advertising "Diamonds, Jewellery, Repairs" and "Swiss Watches Ltd". There is a large sign above the shop window saying, "To Let Ground Floor and Basement All Enquiries To Portman Estates". There are recessed door entrances to the shop and floors above. A Vauxhall Viva car is parked in the street. Both houses have been demolished and replaced by modern offices.
