Description
View looking north, taken from the junction of Bedfordbury and New Row, Covent Garden. Showing an early nineteenth-century terraced house with ground-floor shop at 17-18 New Row. The business is trading as "J. M. Turnell & Co. Ltd" fruit and vegetable distributor. The company began trading from the premises in the mid-nineteenth century. From 1938 the company held a royal warrant for supplying fruit and vegetables to the royal household. The ground floor has the original warehouse frontage. There are metal security shutters in view and there is a panelled door with fanlight above. A pair of hanging floodlights can be seen above the shop. The building is Grade II listed; listing number 1224987. Today, the ground floor is a bookshop. To the right is a partial view of 16 New Row, where signs for a laundry cleaning service can be seen.
