Shop in New Bond Street
Description
View taken from Maddox Street, Mayfair, looking north-west, showing a corner shoe shop at 47-48 New Bond Street, Mayfair. The ground-floor shop is trading as, "F. Pinet", retailer of luxury footwear. The corner building was built in 1906 to designs by William Flockhart. Francois Pinet's shop front to Maddox Street and New Bond Street was designed by Auguste Waser. The plate-glass windows are embedded with decorated bronze picture framework, which remain today. Striped canvas awnings can be seen rolled back above the windows. Displays of shoes can be seen through the windows together with a pair of chandeliers. The first floor is trading as, "Swerling Furs". There is a sign on the ground floor advertising, "H. B. & M. Swerling Furriers & Skin Merchants". The building is Grade II listed; listing number 1224394. Different businesses now trade from the premises. To the left of the view is a partial view of 128 New Bond Street. There is a traffic light and a "No Right-Turn" sign visible. There are pedestrians in the street.
