Description
View of the front elevations of 3-9 Spring Gardens from the Mall, Westminster. The back elevation of 58-59 Trafalgar Square is also in view and which has since been demolished and rebuilt. A Canadian Pacific sign is displayed across the balconies on the first floor of 5-7 Spring Gardens, which was their offices.. On the corner is 57 Trafalgar Square which is Malaya House, the Malayan Information Agency. This was built as offices in 1914-1915 by Sir Reginald Blomfield of Portland stone with a slate roof. It is a Grade II listed building: listing number 1266213, and designed as a link from Trafalgar Square to Admiralty Arch. On the left is the First Sea Lord’s Residence, part of the Admiralty Arch complex which is Grade I listed, listing number 1238982. In front are two cast-iron lampposts with a double light. A London taxi, registration FXW 830, and a parked motorbike are in view.
