Description
View of the National Westminster Bank building at 3 Spring Gardens, Westminster, looking towards Trafalgar Square which is now The Admiralty public house. It was built by F.W. Porter as the Union Bank in 1871 of Portland stone and polished red granite as a four-storey building with a wrought-iron continuous balcony to the first floor and a sculptured face of the Green Man on the corner. It is a Grade II listed building: listing number 1217744. Parked in Spring Gardens is a Fiat 128, registration VLN 132M. In the background is the bronze statue of General Charles James Napier (1782-1853) by George Gamon Adams (1821-1898) at the southwest corner of Trafalgar Square and the National Gallery.
