Buildings in Mount Row
Description
View of the front elevations of houses at 6-14 Mount Row, Mayfair. Numbers 6-10 at the right form the end houses of a terrace of three, number 8 being at the rear and accessed through the central passageway. The two houses shown are in brick, designed in Tudor style, and have three storeys plus attics. Windows have small leaded panes. Between the central windows is a carved panel with depictions of two Elizabethan figures. Elaborate carvings in wood also appear over ground-floor bay windows and faces carved in brick are seen on the upper storeys. Small shrubs have been planted at the edge of the property along the pavement. At the left are the front elevations of a pair of houses at 12 and 14 Mount Row, Mayfair. The houses are built in a style of about 1700 and were originally called Wren House. The building has three storeys and is five-windows wide. Second-floor windows are round. Swags in terracotta decorate the facade between the first- and second-storey windows. The ground floor includes garages. An estate agent's To Let sign has been fixed to the facade. Parked in the street are two BMC Mini cars, one with the registration number GPX412N. Dating from 1929-31 and designed by Frederick Etchells, number 6-10 (even) Mount Row was Grade II listed in 1990; listing number 1248351. Dating from 1927 and designed by Thomas Penberthy Bennett, number 12 and 14 Mount Row was Grade II listed in 1976; listing number 1267232.
