Title
Buildings in Mount Street
Description
View of the front elevations of terraced buildings at 10-43 Mount Street, Mayfair. They have four storeys plus gabled attics and basement and the ground floor is occupied by retailers. At number 11 nearest the camera is the Mayfair branch of Coutts bank, with residential accommodation above. Number 12 is a branch of National Provincial Bank. Through mergers, both banks are now part of NatWest Group. A pair of step ladders with a plank across the tops can be seen in front of the bank's window. The building is in brick in Queen Anne style with stone dressings and stone-faced ground floor. Railings surround basement areas. The block was part of the rebuilding of Mount Street for the Grosvenor Estate in the 1880s and 1890s. Several pedestrians and cars can be seen. Dating from 1894-96 and designed by H. C. Boyes, numbers 10-12 Mount Street were Grade II listed in 1987; listing number 1267216. Dating from 1896-98 and designed by Herbert Read and R.F. Macdonald, numbers 13-26 Mount Street were Grade II listed in 1987; listing number 1267217. Dating from 1888-89 and designed by Thomas Verity, numbers and 27 and 28 and 41-43 Mount Street, and 34-42 South Audley Street were Grade II listed in 1987; listing number 1264595.
