Description
View of the front elevations of terraced buildings at 87 and 88 Mount Street, Mayfair. The side elevation of number 87 nearest the camera at the junction with South Audley Street is also shown obliquely. It includes a corner turret topped by a cone. The ornately decorated buildings have three or four storeys plus gabled attic rooms. The ground floor of number 87 is occupied by a restaurant, Trattoria Fiori, with residential accommodation above. A brick section above the trattoria carries a stone shield bearing the name and date Mount Street AD 1893 at the first floor and a rhomboid pattern at the second. To the left of the restaurant is Ambrose Delicatessen and a branch of financial services company American Express. A few pedestrians can be seen. The block was part of the rebuilding of Mount Street for the Grosvenor Estate in the 1880s and 1890s. Dating from 1889 to 1895 and designed by Albert J. Bolton, numbers 87-102 Mount Street with 26-33 South Audley Street were Grade II listed in 1987; listing number 1223623.
