Description
View of the front and side elevations of The Vestry and Presbytery, a substantial building at 114 Mount Street, Mayfair. The building is now the London Jesuit Centre. It stands next to the Roman Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception, also known as Farm Street Church, the main central London church of the Jesuit order, which is separately Grade II* listed. It has two main storeys over a basement to a vestry hall and chapel block facing Mount Street to the left in the image. It is three major bays wide, each topped by a gabled attic room with flanking scrolls. In the return it has one further bay, which continues with the presbytery building of similar height but four storeys plus attic and seven bays wide. Many cars are visible including, at the right, a BMC Mini Traveller. Dating from 1886-88 and designed by A. E. Purdie, The Vestry and Presbytery at 114 Mount Street was Grade II listed in 1987; listing number 1267199.
