Title
St Clements Watch House in Strand Lane
Description
West elevation of St Clements Watch House in Strand Lane, Westminster, viewed from the roof of Kings College. The Watch House is Grade II listed, listing number 1264259. This is a surviving example of an eighteenth-century parochial watch house; an early form of police station. There are two windows visible on the north elevation, the upper window with two metal bars across the window. On the flat roof of the watch house is a single-storey extension that appears to be clad in sheets of lead on the sides, with a single window in the north elevation. This has a flat roof and has been built around the square chimney stack to the watch house.
