Buildings in Strand
Description
View of buildings at 269-273 Strand, Covent Garden, near St Clement Danes Church and several horse-drawn carts. The rounded corner site, number 269 Strand, is the premises of Great Western Railway, with signs saying parcels can be sent from there and railway tickets issued. A covered cart to the right bears the name of Harrisons. Nearby is a vendor's cart with a man and a child standing next to it. The block, which adjoined the south side of Holywell Street, was demolished in August 1901 as part of a scheme to widen Strand and create Aldwych.
