Description
View of the front elevations of buildings at 411-416 Strand, Covent Garden, including The Adelphi Theatre. The theatre is seen partially at the right. Other buildings have about four storeys with shops on the ground floor. At number 415 is J. E. Dallas, a musical instrument maker. At 416 is Thorne and Thornthwaite, ophthalmic opticians and clockmakers. A horse-drawn four-wheeled cart is stopped outside the theatre. Several pedestrians can be seen on the pavement. Dating from 1806 but with several extensions and rebuilds, The Adelphi Theatre was Grade II listed in 1987; listing number 1264304. The other buildings no longer exist and later commercial developments occupy the sites.
