Description
Kingsway, Holborn. Looking north from the Aldwych end, with Portugal Street on the right. The reconstruction of the tram subway to become the Strand underpass is underway and work is being carried on within a fenced enclosure in the middle of the road. Three workman can be seen, as can original stairs down to what was the tramway and an early 'Keep Left' bollard. Amongst traffic can be seen a van with an advert for 'The Mirror Laundry Co. Ltd', one from 'Bowyers, Trowbridge, Wiltshire', and an open builders truck with the name 'Hall Bedall' on its tailgate. Various other vehicles can be seen including two Austin FX 3D taxis and a Daimler DC 27 ambulance, amongst many others. It may be rush hour since the pavements are busy with office workers.
