Description
A view of the front elevations of terraced buildings at 2-8 Henrietta Street, Covent Garden. On the right at numbers 7-8 is the premises of bookseller and publisher Bailliere, Tindall and Cassell. It has three storeys above the ground floor and is a total of six windows wide. The ground floor is stucco faced while upper parts are painted cement. To its left is Barclays Bank occupying numbers 5 and 6. Numbers 3 and 4 are closely matching four-storey buildings that are three windows wide and with balustrading along the roof parapet. Number 3 has a shop on the ground floor and number 4 has a vehicle entrance. Number 2 is Lloyd Bank chambers, part of a five-storey bank building. Parked cars line both sides of the street. The car being driven is a Vauxhall Viva with registration number JAT163D. Cars behind it at the kerb include a BMC Mini with registration number 5755VB and a BMC1100. Nearest the camera is a Morris Minor van. Several pedestrians can be seen on the pavement on the left as well as a market porter's barrow. Built in 1730-31 as a pair of terraced houses, number 7-8 Henrietta Street was Grade II listed in 1970; listing number 1066647. Dating from 1730-31 but refronted in 1873, number 5 and 6 Henrietta Street was Grade II listed in 1973; listing number 1278431. Dating from 1780-81, numbers 3 and 4 Henrietta Street were Grade II listed in 1973; listing numbers 1230787 and 1066646. All the buildings still exist.
