Description
A view of the front elevation of buildings at 26-29 Haymarket, Westminster, including a branch of Westminster Bank, later National Westminster Bank. The bank is at the corner of Panton Street at 26 Haymarket in a five-storey building that also includes a branch of the Woolwich Building Society at number 27. To its left is the Design Centre and at the left-most corner with Shaver's Place at number 29 is Midland Bank, later HSBC, both in a building of about nine storeys. All the buildings have offices above the retail space. A calendar clock above the Westminster Bank door shows the picture was taken on Monday 22 August 1960 at 2:43 pm. Several pedestrians can be seen on the pavement and the pedestrian crossing. Vehicles in the image include a Morris Minor and Riley Four heading south in Haymarket. Parked nearby is a Morris Minor van. The buildings still exist.
