Description
View eastwards of front elevations of 72-78 Grosvenor Street, Mayfair. In 1975 these properties were occupied by Icelandair at 73, Longman Group publishers at 74, and by Chestertons estate agents at 75. 76 is an entrance way to premises above, and 77 was occupied by Hillier Parker May and Rowden estate agents. The properties are of varied widths and heights, from four to six main storeys, plus mansards and basements, and between three to five windows wide. 73 and 74 are stucco-faced and the others are brick-faced at upper floors. The doorway at 76 is framed by a stone arch, console and oval window set in stone surrounds carved with swags. 73 had wide display windows in 1976, though no longer. 76-78 have also been merged as modern office premises. 73 and 74, both built in 1722-24 by John James, are Grade II listed, listing numbers 1279421 (number 73) and 1066704 (number 74).
