Title
Interior of a house in Grosvenor Street
Description
View of basement iron rails in 49 Grosvenor Street, Mayfair. It shows two iron rails set into the concrete floor of a narrow basement corridor connecting the main part of the property and the mews property at the rear. The walls on either side are white-tiled, and utilities pipes run along the length of the low ceiling. There are some openings on the right-hand side, but none on the left, suggesting the view is northwards from the rear towards the main property along the western party wall. 49 was, in 1975, the venue of the Sesame Pioneers Lyceum Club, a literary and social club. Built in 1725, it is Grade II listed, listing number 1357082.
