Description
View south-eastwards of 43 and 46 Grosvenor Street, Mayfair. These are four-storey properties built in the eighteenth century as townhouses. 46 is Portland stone-faced, three windows wide and has a mansard attic. 43, to the right, is stucco-faced at ground floor, dark-painted brick above, four windows wide, and has area railings. 46's entrance is in the left bay, and the ground-floor openings all have stone arches with a carved head keystone. 43's entrance is in the third bay to the right, and has a porch with pillars, architrave and radiating fanlight. At the upper floors, 43 is smooth stone-faced, and the windows are pedimented and balustraded. The roofline of 46 is higher. Three saloon cars are parked outside. 43-46 were at the time of the photo the Japanese Embassy and Consulate General. Both are Grade II listed: the listing number for 46 is 1066700 and the one for 43 is 1357081.
