Description
View of the Protocol Room on the ground floor of 46 Grosvenor Street, Mayfair. It is oval-shaped and has an ornately-carved boarded-up chimneypiece. The walls are wood panelled from ground to cornice, with fluted pilasters and dado rails, and there are two pedimented doorcases. Four chairs line the middle of the carpet behind small tables. Above the chimneypiece hangs a picture of Mount Fuji. Amongst the occupiers of 46 was Sir Edgar Speyer, a financier in the early-twentieth century, and a patron of music. At the time of the photo it was the Japanese Embassy. It is Grade II listed, listing number 1066700.
