Description
View of entrance hall of 66 Grosvenor Street, Mayfair. It is a spacious area with white, squared-stone flooring and white edging to the wall panels, door frames and coving. Double doors to the right near the corner look onto the foot of the main staircase. The doors are glazed and have a full-width fanlight. A full-height opening to the left of the corner has been replaced by a long round-headed mirror. To the left is a chimneypiece of dark and white-veined marble. Above it hangs a Royal Arms. A chandelier hangs from the ceiling. Two life-size carved wooden figures frame the doorway holding shaded lamps, and on the walls on either side of the door are pairs of pillars and pilasters. 66 was originally built in 1723 as a townhouse and is Grade II listed, listing number 1357084. At the time of the photo its occupants included Steiner of Francis Delzenne, ladies' hairdressers.
