Description
View of Grosvenor Place, Westminster, looking north. Attached to a hoarding outside number 40, Hobart House which was the headquarters of the National Coal Board (N.C.B.), are posters for the St Bartholomews Hospital "S.O.S. Appeal". The aim was to raise money to support special challenges posed by an up-coming world war, such as the evacuation of students and staff and the impact of bombing raids. A dinner was held at the Mansion House in the City of London to launch the appeal and it was attended by the Duke of Gloucester. Blurred images of vehicles and pedestrians can also be seen.
