A view of a chimneypiece at a terraced house at 16 Buckingham Gate, Westminster. The insert includes a small grate. The surround is a simple one in marble with small rosettes in the horizontal. The hearth is tiled. Dating from 1706, number 16 Buckingham Gate was Grade II* listed in 1976; listing number 1066360. In 1900, the house was the home of Princess Augusta of Cambridge (1822-1916), a grand-daughter of King George III, who became the grand duchess of Mecklenburg Strelitz.
