Description
A view of the fronts of the two and four-storey houses at 6-14 Rectory Grove, Clapham. On the far left of the photograph can be seen the front of number 12 and a part of number 14. These two four-storey (including basement and attic rooms) Grade II listed in 1981, listing number 1064973) houses date from the early to the middle part of the nineteenth century. To the right of these properties can be seen the fronts of two four-storey (including basements and attic rooms) Grade II listed in 1981, listing number 1121962) eighteenth-century Georgian houses at numbers 8-10 Rectory Grove. Next to number 8 is the turning into Iveley Road, Clapham and by the turning can be seen the early nineteenth-century Grade II listed in 1979, listing number 1064971) number 6 Rectory Grove. Later named The Glebe House the two-storey building is believed to have once been a watch house. On the far right of the photograph can be seen part of the side wall of the Grade II* listed (Historic England listing of 1955, listing number 1121980) church of St Paul's Clapham which was originally designed by Christopher Edwards in 1815 with part of the church's two-storey early twentieth-century vicarage visible between the church and number 6. The ornate iron post outside number 10 along with the walls fronting and dividing the fronts of numbers 8 and 10 were given Grade II listed status (Historic England listing of 1981, listing number 1064972).
