Buildings in Brewhouse Lane
Description
View of front elevations of three-storey buildings in Brewhouse Lane, Wandsworth, by Putney Bridge. A family group and a black cat pose by the front entrance doorway. Martin the Brewer is thought to have had a brewhouse to the east of the Lane in 1332 which existed for centuries. This street was also the site of the Old Castle public house which was demolished and rebuilt several times and then damaged in the Blitz. Flats and offices were subsequently built in the Lane.
