Description
General view of Whitechapel Road, Whitechapel, looking west by Mile End. On the right-hand side is The Blind Beggar public house, a Watneys establishment. This pub is notorious as the site of a murder on 9 March 1966, when Ronnie Kray shot and murdered George Cornell, an associate of a rival gang, the Richardsons, as he was sitting at the bar in the saloon bar. A large tower block is home to the Post Office and in the background is the London Hospital.
