Elevated view of landscaping and a newly-built playground on the corner behind Wentworth Dwellings, latterly named Merchant House, on Wentworth Street, Spitalfields, in the former Metropolitan Borough of Stepney, looking north. The premises of A. Levy (woollens) Limited can be seen on the left-hand side at 41 Goulston Street, with market stalls of Petticoat Lane in the street, selling clothing. 90 to 122 Wentworth Dwellings in Goulston Street, is on the right, latterly named Arcadia Court after refurbishment c1991. This five-storey tenement block is where a crucially evidential fragment of blood-stained clothing of the fourth of Jack the Ripper's victims, Catherine Eddowes, was discovered. It is seen with shops at the ground floor at number 36 to 48, which includes Ralph Swimer Limited, clothing wholesaler, Israeli Restaurant, a hot salt beef bar, and the premises of G. N. Trading Company. Wentworth Street is a conservation area, designated in 1989.
