Description
Front elevation of 13-15 Balham Hill, Clapham, looking south-east. The building on the left is the South London Hospital for Women, which was founded in 1912 by surgeons Eleanor Davies-Colley and Maud Chadburn in 1912, and employed female-only staff. It closed down in 1984 and has been since redeveloped into flats and Tesco supermarket. Number 15 next door is occupied by Red and White coin-op Maytag launderette, and there is a post office next two it. Two women hide from the rain and a pram is standing in front of the launderette.
