Front elevations of terraced houses and commercial premises at 39-43 Balham High Road, Wandsworth, looking south-east. At number 39, on the corner of Balham New Road is the Duke of Devonshire public house. Number 40 is Popular Book Centre inviting customers to 'come right in and walk around' and advertising 'world's largest exchange booksellers'. Number 43 is Beaumonts of Balham, fitted carpet specialists. All these buildings still exist.
