Title
Cressy House in Hannibal Road
Description
A view looking north up Hannibal Road, Stepney, with cars parked the length of the street. The four-storey red brick Cressy House is in the foreground, with its balconied stairwell. A sign above the doorway of the corner shop reads "Erected by the East End Dwelling Co 1894". The terraced houses beyond have been replaced with new housing. Charrington's Anchor Brewery can be seen in the distance, a section of which is being demolished. The brewery would eventually be completely demolished except for the Brewery Offices, which were built in 1872, on the corner of Mile End Road and Cephas Avenue. The site is now occupied by the Anchor Retail Park.
