Title
Church and buildings in Scandrett Street
Description
View along Scandrett Street (previously Church Street), Wapping, looking north. A man is walking away from the camera. St John's Church is in view, with its clock tower and distinctive domed roof. Grade II listed, entry number 1241683. In front, on the right at 2 Scandrett Street is St John's Old School, a charity school which forms part of a terrace of buildings (2-8 Scandrett Street) that would originally have made up the St John's of Wapping Old School. A rare surviving example of an eighteenth-century school building with two statues over the entrance. These buildings still exist.
