Doorway in Rhondda Grove
Description
Doorway of an early nineteenth-century semi-detached house at 28 Rhondda Grove, Mile End, taken looking north-east. The front door has Doric columns either side of it, a very ornate semicircular fanlight and arched brickwork above it. The steps have an iron stair rail at one side and a wall at the other. Below the steps is a short, rough crazy paving path from the steps to the back gate. Below this is a large urn containing flowers. On the left of the steps is a wooden gate into a back garden, where trees are visible. Both this gate and the front door are studded and have iron work in fleur-de-lys shapes affixed. Next to the lower door, on the wall above a patch of grass, is a fan-shaped metal trellis. Numbers 28-31 Rhondda Grove were listed Grade II in 1973, listing number 1357852. This house is in the Tredegar Square Conservation Area, formed in 1971.
