A view of Middlesex Street (formerly Petticoat Lane) taken from the first floor of number 1 Wentworth Street, Spitalfields, looking south-west towards Stoney Lane. The street is jam packed with people, lots of men wearing straw hats. A sign for public lavatories points down Wentworth Street. Assenheims pickle dealers is a number 77 and E Barnett & Co poulterers and butchers occupy 79-83 Middlesex Street. There is an advertisement on the wall of Stoney Lane for the Pavilion Theatre Woman and Wine. None of these buildings survive.
