Description
Detail of modelled plaster ceiling in the first-front front room of 40 Crispin Street, Spitalfields. Built c1747 by carpenter Joseph Gosford. This room was finely decorated with excellent woodwork and carved mouldings, dado rail, door panels and architrave. The northern section of Crispin Street where number 40 used to stand no longer exists; it was demolished for the extension of Spitalfields Market in 1923.
