Title
Buildings in Whitfield Street
Description
A view along Whitfield Street, Fitzrovia, showing a row of terraced houses at numbers 145 and 147. A sign for Premises To Let is visible outside the window of number 145. Two posters are attached to its shutter: one advertising London’s War Weapons Week and the other, Oscar Weinbergs Estate Office. The window sign for R. Winter is visible at number 147. The street suffered severely from air raids during World War II; most of its buildings have been replaced. Nowadays, a brown plaque at number 145 proclaims that 'The First Settlement Of The Nepali Community Began On This Site In 1965'.
