Title
Houses and shops in Whitfield Street
Description
A view along Whitfield Street, Fitzrovia, showing four-storey buildings at numbers 139 to 143. The buildings are derelict and dilapidated. The shops look abandoned with windows sealed by corrugated iron sheeting and printed boards. A sign display for Kwaliti Tandoori is visible at 141, along with two signs on the facade of 139 and 143 for Briarfold Contractors Ltd. A pile of bricks is visible outside 139. Two cars are parked on the pavement. Traces of snow are visible on the street. The street suffered severely from air raids during World War II; most of its buildings have been replaced.
