Title
Houses and shops in Whitfield Street
Description
A view along Whitfield Street in Fitzrovia showing a row of four-storey terraced houses at numbers 137 to 141. Number 137 is a Grade II listed building; listing number 1379191. Shop front of Khan Restaurant is visible at 137, with four pedestrians outside. Two women are looking out the windows of the central house. A large sign for Marchal, perhaps referring to the electric lighting company, is visible at the top of one house. The street suffered severely from air raids during World War II; most of its buildings have been replaced and no longer exist.
