Description
A view of the front elevations of Georgian houses in Taviton Street, Bloomsbury, looking south from Endsleigh Gardens. The building at the left of the image is the side elevation of numbers 12-14 Endsleigh Gardens, at some time in use as a Young Women's Christian Association hostel. The terrace on the left of the street comprises grand houses of four storeys over a basement and three windows wide. Number 2, the second house, has a large entrance portico between the pavement edge and the house. Number 3 seems to be under renovation with a builder's board attached to the juliet balcony and a plank running from it to the ground floor. Both sides of the street are lined with parked cars, from the left a Rover 2000 with registration number ELK819J, a BMC1100 with registration number NNB827H, a BMC Mini and a Citroen Dyane. Built about 1824 by Thomas Cubitt, the terrace of 1-12 Taviton Street was Grade II listed in 1969, listing number 1378972. Many of the houses are in use by University College London.
