Former Clay's Printing Works in Paris Garden
Description
A view of the front elevation of a building at 1-3 Paris Garden, Bankside, looking north. This is a Grade II listed building designed by architect G.F. Collinson and engineer Alexander Drew. It was built in 1909 using reinforced concrete and comprises thirteen bays, which run almost the entire length of the street, previously known as Brunswick Street at the end of the nineteenth century. It housed Clay’s Printing Works, the UK’s largest printer, for many years. The photograph shows a loading bay at the south end of the building. There is a sign at the adjacent entrance indicating Trade & Retail. There are two vans parked within and without the loading bay bearing the signage IPC Business Press Limited. A scooter is parked just beyond. Octagonal chimneys are visible from the roofline between the bays. The building still survives and is currently used as offices. Listing number 1385748.
