Title
Houses in County Street
Description
View of rear elevations of a terrace of gable roofed houses with sheds and wooden fences in County Street, Southwark. Planks of wood rest against the fence close to the viewer. The overgrown yard in front is fenced off with mesh and barbed wire fencing. Originally known as County Terrace Street, it dates back to at least the early nineteenth century, appearing on C. and J. Greenwood's 1828 map. By the mid-twentieth-century the street was known as County Street. The buildings in the view no longer exist; they were demolished shortly after this view was captured and replaced with newer residential blocks.
