Description
Front elevation of the London Refraction Hospital, 58-62 Newington Causeway, Elephant and Castle. The Hospital opened in 1922 at number 58 and gradually expanded to numbers 60-62. It provided a range of optometric services, particularly to the poor, and also trained optometrists. In 1988 it was renamed the Institute of Optometry and is still extant in these premises in 2021.
